A thinker sees his own actions as experiments, and questions as attempts to find out something. Success and failure are for him answers above all. - Nietzche

Completing the circle

  • Happy Chanuka!
  • The Hindu trinity is of Brahma, Vishnua and Shiva. They are respectively the creator, preserver and destroyer of the universe.

Shiva is to be respected, but one has to remember that renewal may require destruction - just as success may require setbacks.

  • How about those New Years Resolutions? In the most general of terms I propose breaking free from a pattern of behavior that's holding you back - or at the very least a serious attempt to identify one. ;)

Lucid dreaming: Step 2

Remembered dreams first two-three nights no problem.
Didn't need to regulate sleeping times, but will keep it as a possible future consideration.

Simply stating that I wanted to remember aided recall. This also required a conscious effort to recall prior to commencing any other mental activity. In fact I was convinced I hadn't dreamed until I took the time to remember!
However, the day I didn't take the time to write minimal notes, the memory faded into a concept. It would seem that something within the process of translating into languages fortifies the memory.
So on to step 2.... Become conscious of the fact that you are dreaming.

I've done this before, but as with remembering - not consistently.

Two ideas.

a) Signal to myself - question whether I am awake or dreaming.
The main method is to choose a type of object, and any time I see it to ask myself if I am dreaming. In particular a new acquaintance suggested my own hands (thanks S! :). After all they are readily available and I can play with time intervals.
signaling might not be enough - I've been in dreams where I've questioned the likelihood of dreaming and decided I wasn't, so...

b) Look out for dreams signs.
I tend to mix locations in my dreams, and am very big on flying.
Will have to do more reading to decide on more signs.
Any ideas?

Be careful for what you wish for...

Is it possible that the human tendency to chase the (seemingly) impossible/unobtainable is the very pillar by which we define our boundaries?
Is someone who's more persistent more likely to reach their goals? Is it also a question of how "high" you aim - is aiming "high" a way of prematurely defeating yourself or rather stretching the boundaries of reality?

All this assumes, of course, that we are still stuck in our egos and the karmic circle....

Excess luggage

In Sweden it seems we are so weltering in excess there are few charities that will take on a decent fur coat.

On a more personal note:
I hate the leaving, the packing, the sifting through memories as if anything or anyone could be compared and deamed less worthy than the next.

tis grandmothers old coat my dear.
and most charities do not accept more clothes as they are in excess, the material has no play in it.

i would not buy such a thing, but i believe there are people that would rather wear it than freeze. the poor animals are slaughtered - let the coat come to good use at least.

"Outside all notions of right and wrong there is a field - will you meet me there?"
-Rumi

Step one

(translated from MSN)
Yeah, that's possible.. Conciousness is probably like the big brother that easily pushes aside little syster Subconciousness.

I rather see conciousness as a lit up area of a great black ocean. There is no difference in essence between the two, rather a question of staying in the lit end or whether you chose to enter unchartered territory.

---------------------------------------------------------

Step number one:
Recalling dreams, keeping a dream diary.
Setting waking time 7,5 hrs, aiming for the REM period that occurs every 90 minutes.
Also allows for an extra half hour to remember, and then jot down, the dreams

I already remember a lot of my dreams... keeping a dream diary has always kind of scared me. I find that all my stresses in life end up in my dreams, and not always in a good way.

Lucid dreaming supposedly affords control over dreams though? And I've had enough lucid dreams without formal techniques to be able to testify that a certain amount of control is possible.

Then again, you've got to be prepared to do some listening as well I guess. There be no running from yourself. ;)

Fulfillment

"If a source of pleasure is truly fulfilling, there is a natural cycle that begins with desire and ends in satisfaction. Addiction never closes the circle."

"This last addiction has taken secular form in people who crave the perfect family, perfect home, and perfect career. They do not even see the irony that such "perfection" is dead; it can be bought only at the price of killing our inborn spontaneity, which by its nature can never be controlled."

Serial loops?

Once it's a fluke, twice it's chance, more times than I can count...what is the universe trying to tell me?!
Obviously I am having trouble decifering something!

Communication.

Start with the mindset that there is something that needs to be said, something that needs to be heard. Not with what you want (or don't want) to happen, what you want hear, who you want to be, how you want to percieved....

You might be surprised how many boundries and restrictions you get around, and not only your own.

Coque rogue

The United Democratic Republic (and Federation) of Excellent Persons would like to inform you the chairman has transformed into an apathetic coachroch. Although this is a common occurance for many United Democratic Republic (Federations), the recent turn of events has puzzled our team of scientists greatly until we were notified by our own Intelligence.

It would seem our Chairman was involved with the Internet.
Of course we will investigate the matter further.

We are sorry to report that you too may be at risk....
