Mother nature calling

Some first pictures can be found here.

Scene: Cabin right on the water. A small lake, lots of pine trees. No electricity, no running water. A well, an outhouse and some gas for the stove and fridge(!) ... and oil lamps. Built by a friends grandparents, back in the day when it was legal to build so close to water. The beds are made in the style of centuries past, also size-wise, but compensated by the roaring fire beside.

^^ Highlights ^^

* Railbus - a slow train, that needed stopping. Text explicitly describing the procedure of turning the stop sign in the direction of the approaching vehicle. Surprisingly train stations in the Swedish countryside look scarily similar to the ones in Czech. Europe is all the same?

* House mouse - a totally nervous mouse living under our cabin, only time we really saw him was through the kitchen window when he didn't think we were watching.

* Stringing apple rings on fishing lines ... they still weren't dry (apple chips!) in the car on the way back.

* A dishwashing "room" with a hand pump in front of the sink for water access. High tech!

* A half-tame bird eating crumbs ON my hand. How can those things be so light and still be alive?! Beautiful creatures they are.

* Rowing and paddling (I've been waiting for this one all year)

* (more ) Animals - 2 elk, a bunch of redish foxies, and Candian geese

* Magic sunsets and mid-night mists on the lake, despite the fact that it hardly ever got properly dark. Pictures taken with disposable camera, may be scanned some time in the future.

* Reading the most part of a C# and .Net reference, totalling no less than 1100 pages, and getting a tan in the process.
